Youth Knews: Faith, Emmanuel, Oregon Community andLong Memorial UMCs
Fall 2018

The Youth are very active. We meet weekly and throughout the year enjoy a variety of fun activities: going to Gretna Glen camp every month, playing lots of Gaga Ball, sardines, and just goofing off. We are preparing to attend a powerful retreat in January 5-7, 2018 at Ocean City, MD with the Peninsula Delaware Conference--which has become an annual tradition.

The youth ministry is open to everyone in 5th -12th grade. We have about 25 students involved--and about a dozen students at each event. The youth come from Faith, Emmanuel and Long Memorial UMC, several other local churches, plus their friends and family. We have students from 5 or 6 different school districts and private schools. So, if it has been a while since you have been with us for youth activities, I encourage you to come and check out the new energy surrounding this ministry!

Sunday Mornings at 9am the youth meet for Sunday School at Faith UMC—which includes an engaging lesson by Julie Perkowski and Amy Boughter and a chance for discussion and fellowship. Long Memorial is also hosting their Youth Sunday School at 9:30am.

Sunday Nights Youth Group runs from 5-7pm at Faith UMC.

We have a large group game or sports, dinner, and then a lesson—and of course lots of fun and laughter. We also have a game room with foosball and a pool table. We are currently beginning a whirlwind tour of our faith from Genesis to Revelation. You won't want to miss a lesson, if you join us for the next 12 months you will have covered the highlights of the Jewish and Christian history and our core beliefs.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14 WE WILL MEET AT FIRST UMC, LANCASTER (29 East Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17602) from 5-8pm--note that this is an hour longer than normal. A delegation of 10 Youth from Naeri UMC in South Korea are visiting Lancaster this weekend, and the First UMC Youth are hosting them on Sunday night. We encourage the youth to join us (and parents are welcome to stick around and speak with the adult chaperones). We will meet directly at First UMC. Dinner is being provided. RSVP to Pastor Jason (717) 333-9238

Free Youth Night at Gretna Glen: We go to Gretna Glen camp from 3:30-7 PM on the 3rd Sunday of each month in the school year (excluding December) and the next trip is Oct 21st. WE meet at Faith and then carpool to and from the camp. They provide camp activities and group games, a snack, worship and a lesson. Over 100 youth show up most months from a variety of churches.

Upcoming Events:

Join us for the Community Picnic at the Manheim Township Park (on Petersburg Road) from Noon-6pm on Saturday, October 13 for games, activities, free food, free concerts, and lots of fun! Bring your friends and family!

YOUTH RALLY 2019: "PROTECTOR" in Ocean City Maryland -- January 4-6, 2018. This has been a highlight of the youth group's year with great bands, prayer, worship, great lessons and a lot of fun. We are asking each youth to pay $50 toward the trip and the rest will be covered via the Faith Day fundraiser and church budget. $25 deposits and permission slips are due by October 15th for Early Bird Tickets. If finances are a problem please speak with a pastor regarding grants to cover the cost of the trip.
