Youth Knews: Faith, Emmanuel, Oregon Community andLong Memorial UMCs
The Youth are very active. We meet weekly and throughout the year enjoy a variety of fun activities: going to Gretna Glen camp every month, playing lots of Gaga Ball, sardines, and just goofing off. We also have an an annual tradition of attending a powerful retreat each year at Ocean City, MD with the Peninsula Delaware Conference.
The youth ministry is open to everyone in 5th -12th grade. We have about 25 students involved--and about a dozen students at each event. The youth come from Faith, Emmanuel and Long Memorial UMC, several other local churches, plus their friends and family. We have students from 5 or 6 different school districts and private schools. So, if it has been a while since you have been with us for youth activities, I encourage you to come and check out the new energy surrounding this ministry!
Sunday Mornings at 9am the youth meet for Sunday School at Faith UMC—which includes an engaging lesson by Julie Perkowski and Amy Boughter and a chance for discussion and fellowship. Long Memorial is also hosting their Youth Sunday School at 9:30am.
Sunday Nights Youth Group runs from 5-7pm at Faith UMC.
We have a large group game or sports, dinner, and then a lesson—and of course lots of fun and laughter. We also have a game room with foosball and a pool table. We are currently beginning a whirlwind tour of our faith from Genesis to Revelation. You won't want to miss a lesson, if you join us for the next 12 months you will have covered the highlights of the Jewish and Christian history and our core beliefs.
Annual Conference is June 13-15: Any youth that are interested in attending should contact Pastor Jason. The conference will pay for your registration, meals and lodging for you to come and learn more about how the UMC functions and how you can get involved as a leader in the church.
Winter Youth Rally: January 10-12, 2020 at the OC MD Convention
The line up is set for the Rally. There are great speakers, amazing music and worship artists, and break out sessions on a host of topics.
Each year our youth group finds the opportunities for prayer and discussion powerful.
Oh, and there is some free time as well to play on the beach, swim in the pool, hang out and talk, and explore the vendor hall.
Go ahead and mark your calendars so that you can join us for this event. You will need to register and pay a portion of the registration fees and hotel cost. Fundraisers that we do help reduce the cost that you pay out of pocket.
Permission Slips are needed for all off-site trips, include Gretna Glen--and can be downloaded from the Youth Section of our Website.
