Youth Knews: Faith & Oregon Community UMCs
Summer 2025
The Youth are very active. We meet weekly and throughout the year enjoy a variety of fun activities: going to Gretna Glen camp every month, playing lots of Gaga Ball, sardines (a fun version of hide and seek), wiffle ball or other sports, and just goofing off. We also have an an annual tradition of attending a powerful winter retreat each year--sometimes at Gretna Glen Camp and sometimes at rallies hosted by the annual conference. This ministry is lead by Pastor Jason who also serves as Senior Pastor of Faith and Oregon Community UMC.
The youth ministry is open to everyone in 5th -12th grade. We have about 20 students involved--and about 10-12 students at each youth event. The youth come from Faith, Oregon Community, Long Memorial, and Leola United Methodist Churches, and several other local churches, plus their friends and family. We have students from 5 or 6 different school districts, private schools and charter schools. So, if it has been a while since you have been with us for youth activities, I encourage you to come and check out the new energy surrounding this ministry!
Sunday Nights Youth Group begins at 5pm at Faith UMC.
We normally have dinner together followed by a large group game or sports and then a lesson. Of course there is lots of fun and laughter throughout. We have a game room with foosball table and basketball net. We spend time studying the Bible and discussing how it applies to our lives. You won't want to miss a lesson. Join together with youth from several churches for fun, fellowship, and learning. We will NOT meet on July 6th--enjoy celebrating Independence Day weekend.
Summer Transition:
During the summer, those who just graduated high school get to keep attending youth group until September. Those who will be entering 5th grade in the Fall, may also start to attend youth group as of June 2025. So come out and bring your friends.
Please note that we will NOT meet on July 6th--enjoy the 4th of July Weekend. We generally do not meet on holiday weekends--including Mother's Day and Father's Day.
Permission Slips are needed for all off-site trips, include Gretna Glen--and can be downloaded from the Youth Section of our Website.
